Carrollite
Kamoye Mine, Kambove, Congo

I used to know a man from the Congo who lived in New Hampshire. He would occasionally get nice carrollite specimens for me. This is the last and perhaps best of those pieces. It features an undamaged, lustrous carrollite with edges that are 14mm long. It is surrounded by calcite crystals that have some green mineral embedded in their surfaces. Several smaller carrollites are nestled near the large one. While the calcite matrix is not perfect, the large carrollite is. It has nice striated surfaces. These do not come up for sale very often, and I saw two smaller ones on less attractive matrix offered for sale at Tucson in 2018 and 2019 for over $1500. THis one is far superior to either of the others.
