Schorl and minor Apatite
Shigar Valley, Skardu, NA, Pakistan

This is a really wonder plate of lustrous black schorl crystals. A few apatites cling to one end of the group. They are somewhat coated with kaolin and do not fluoresce. The nest of black tourmalines is nearly perfect and double sided. The many jackstraw arrangement of the schorls, and their striated sides, scatter light in all directions as you turn the piece in your hand. I purchased this perfect hand specimen on one of my six trips to Pakistan. It measures 8.7 x 6 x 3.7 cm.
