Fluorite William Wise Mine, Westmoreland, Cheshire Co., New Hampshire, USA
I had a wonderful time collecting at the WIlliam Wise Mine in New Hampshire several times many years ago. I still have several pieces I collected. And I remember once hauling out nearly 400 pounds (I weighed it) in two bags and a backpack at one time from the mine (I weighed it!). I wish I could still do that! At any rate, this isa very nice, even facetable, etched crystal from the mine. It has the great, pure, deep green color the mine is famous for. I used to sell specimens, samples and even cut stones for Jim Tovey (who once owned the mine) out of the Best Western Executive Inn at the Tucson show many moons ago. This is something that Jim probably would have cut because of its color and large clean sections. The cut stones were in high demand back then and I hardly see them anymore. In some ways, I would hate to see this one cut because it is actually completely undamaged. All of the sides are etched, as much of the material from the mine was. There is no damage or contact anywhere. A fine example measuring 9 x 5 x 4 cm.
