This is just a spectacular specimen of hematite from Morocco. It is great from every angle, has an almost wet luster, and wonderful reniform or botryoidal shape. It measures 5.5 x 4.6 x 4.0 cm and is without damage. These are getting harder and harder to get from the Moroccan dealers at a reasonable price. By the way, many people have asked me if these have been polished or cleaned. I have looked at them under a microscope and I think not. There is no evidence in the cracks between the rounded forms of any difference in color or luster. I imagine they are protected by the dry environment in which they are found.
