I remember bringing this piece to a meeting at the New Haven Mineral club. It was one of my first really good finds. It was encased in sold quartz when I found it. Unusual, because most of the specimens from this locality are found in chlorite mica. I remember smacking the quartz with my crack hammer and watching this tourmaline fly loose through the air behind me. I am very glad I found it! It has six mice faces on the termination and is just about 5 cm long. By the way, if you find something this good in the field, do NOT trim it with your crack hammer...there are better ways and I will be glad to suggest a few if you send me an email.
