Amethyst (scepters and reverse scepters)
Karur District, Tamil Nadu, India

This wonderful specimen from Karur shows three separate growth phases. A cluster of milky quartz serves as a base. Light amethyst scepters form a waterline at the waist. Double terminated, deep purple scepter heads crown the top of the middle crystals. Just a stunning piece of mineralogy! There are a couple of scepters missing form the back of the specimen edge and one scepter head on top with a conchoidal fracture on the back side of one face. If you are watching the movie and can't see these minor blemishes it is because they are overpowered by the attractiveness of this piece and don't really become visible without a loupe. A fine piece measuring 3.8 x 2.8 x 2.0 cm.
