Snow Bird Mine, Superior County, Montana, USA

A waxy brown parisite from the classic locality in Montana. Parisite is a rather rare mineral, and is, in fact, one of the rare earths. This crystal lies in a massive matrix of brown ankerite and white calcite. It is a large crystals measuring 4.1-cm in length. Several other much smaller crystals are also present. Overall size 4 x 4.5 x 5 cm. This is an old specimen, probably from the 1950's.
