Calcite and Galena with Aragonite
Huanzala, Hullanca, Huanuco Dept., Peru

Divergent sprays of delicately pink, translucent calcite dominate this piece from Peru. The base is a mix of metallic minerals, mostly galena, and straw-like aragonite. One etched galena crystal looks for all the world like a small volcano of lead. The piece measures 11 x 9 x 11 cm and has no damage. The black dust on the back side of the calcite is not visible from the front, obviously, and is made up of other minerals intergrown with the calcite.
