Galena, Chalcopyrite, Sphalerite, Quartz
9th Septemuri Mine, Rhodope Mts., Bulgaria

This piece has a lot going on! A well formed and perfectly centered chalcopyrite sits between skeletal and hoppered galenas which are resting on a bed of quartz needles which is actually an epimorph of something long gone. A few spahlerites are tucked in here and there for good measure. It is true that the price of ALL minerals specimens seems to have risen (in some cases dramatically) in recent years. It is also true that the quality of specimens available has risen just as dramatically. And some things are true bargains like the sulfides from Bugaria. It is also true that nothing last forever, and the production of these things seems to have slowed down. We are all so used to nice galenas from the tri-state district, Dalnegorsk and now Bulgaria that it is easy to pass by a good specimen. But if Bulgaria should stop, where will good galenas come from next? All this is by way of saying it is a good time to pick up good specimens from Bulgaria. This piece is very aesthetic, undamaged, and the perfect size at 7.4 x 5.5 x 3 cm.
