Item #10304
$ 750
Bastnaesite
Zagi Mountain, NWFP, Pakistan

This is an odd bird! Not only is it a rare cerium mineral, bastnaesite, it is also a color-changing rare mineral: it is orange-red in daylight and yellow-green under fluorescent light (see the detail photos below). I don't know why this one changes color, but they don't all do it. This specimen is complete all around and measures 2.8 x 2.0 x 1.7 cm.
